Moncton Community Residences Inc. (MCRI) provides small, community-based homes for individuals with complex needs. Some arrive carrying the weight of trauma and experiencing a safe home for the first time. Others come from families who have worked tirelessly to care for them and remain deeply involved in their lives. In every case, our homes provide consistent, trauma-informed care, stability, and the skilled support required for healing, growth, and future success.

Community-Based Care Homes for High-Needs Children, Youth & Adults: Safe, Stable, and Therapeutic

How It Works

Members in care receive round-the-clock support from trained staff who follow consistent routines and individualized care plans, ensuring stability and continuity across shifts. Each person has a personalized plan - co-created with them, their family, and their care team - that sets goals for school, health, relationships, and life skills. Homes are structured to feel like family while maintaining the professional supports needed: high staff-to-resident ratios, collaboration with therapists and clinicians, and clear, restorative approaches to crisis. We stay closely connected with schools and alternative education programs to support attendance, homework, and Individualized Education Plans (IEP). .

Who It Serves

  • Children, youth and adults who cannot live with their families due to complex behavioural, developmental, emotional, or medical needs.
  • People who have struggled in other settings (family, foster care, group homes) and need a higher level of individualized, therapeutic support in a small home.
  • Individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health diagnoses, behavioural challenges, medical complexities, or histories of trauma, abuse, or neglect.

Your Role While in Our Care

Your voice matters. We invite members in care to help shape daily routines, goals, and activities. Families, guardians, and foster families are included in planning and visits. Progress is found in the little things - expressing feelings, taking a breath instead of reacting, trusting others, finding calm after struggle or finding your voice - together, those moments create change.
